Common Murre Decoys

Our Common Murre decoys are carved of pine and finished with acrylics. Initially we carved them all looking forward, with fixed heads. After the first season, Dr. Steven Kress of the Seal Island Project, told us he thought that they would work better with varied head positions. That's when we began carving heads separately and mounting them on dowels so that they could be rotated this way and that. It was an excellent idea that we subsequently incorporated into decoys for other species. Like our Puffins, these are also available in smaller sizes for other purposes. The lifesize one measures about 15" from head to tail.
