Gray-backed Tern Decoy

Our Gray-back Tern decoys were deployed on Peale Island, the easternmost island of Wake Atoll. These are bit smaller than the Sooties they joined. Oronothologists had to kayak the decoys across to the island and then installed solar panels to provide power for the speakers broadcasting tern colony sounds. Because the termites are voracious there, it was specified that the decoys be treated with insecticide in an effort to make them less palatable.
